The L-Cheapo Mk7 Laser Cutter Module

L-Cheapo Mk7 Improvements!

Sep 15, 2020

in: lasers

The L-Cheapo Mk7 is back in stock! We've also made some small changes to the way we build the L-Cheapo Mk7, and would like to share them with you. It's still the same laser; but the next run should get a wee bit better.

We’ve made some small improvements to the L-Cheapo Mk7 that new customers will hopefully appreciate. While they’re not a significant output improvement - and don’t warrant a new revision of the laser - they’re another step in our iterative development worth talking about.

The first thing we’ve done is improve some of the connections on the laser board with silver. Much like in high fidelity audio, that tiny improvement in impedence with silvered connections can be seen in other analog circuits, like our lasers. While the performance changes will be minute, we suspect once the metering lab reopens we will be able to see them.

Secondly, we’ve improved the fan - again! The new blades should allow for quieter operation of the powerful Mk7 cooling fan, and reduce the chances of imbalance or fan failures. It’s still much louder than our older models, but should at least drop a few decibels.

We will not be recalling the existing Mk7s for resoldering (seriously, they’re fine) but if you’d like to order the new fan, contact support.

We hope you continue to enjoy the L-Cheapo Mk7.

Our lasers are made in the USA, and back in stock. Order yours - or the L-Cheapo Mk6 if you need something quiet - on our website.
